Academics and Tutorials
LAWSOC plays an important role in both the professional and social development of students at the University of Canterbury.
To support the academic success of our members, we run a series of tutorials throughout the year, host exam-focused study sessions, and facilitate private tutorials. We also host competitions to hone our members’ professional skills (see here)
Exam Tutorials
LAWSOC facilitates both mid-year and end of year exam tutorials for the following courses:
- LAWS101 Legal System: Legal Method and Institutions
- LAWS110 Legal Foundations, Research and Writing
- LAWS205 Land Law
- LAWS203 Law of Contract
- LAWS206 Public Law
- LAWS204 Law of Torts
- LAWS202 Criminal Law
- LAWS301 Equity + Trusts


In-term Test and Essay Workshops
LAWSOC also hosts in term test and essay workshops for all compulsory course assessments in all core 100-300 level courses.
This includes assessments such as the first law essay on ‘what is law?’ and in term tests like the equity and trusts evening exam.
