LAWSOC’s Second Year Representatives play an important role in connecting the Law Society with junior law students. They are responsible for promoting LAWSOC to students in the early years of their degree and ensuring that events and initiatives remain relevant and appealing to the next generation of LAWSOC members.
Their primary role on the LAWSOC Executive is to increase engagement with junior law students by fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment among their peers. Throughout the year, they organise a range of events designed specifically for newer law students, including sessions such as How to Survive First Year Law, as well as social events like Juniors’ Night at The Bog.
The Second Year Reps also facilitate the Dentons Mentoring Programme, which pairs junior law students with senior students to provide guidance, support, and advice on navigating law school.
Through these initiatives, the Second Year Reps help ensure that junior students feel welcomed, supported, and connected within the law school community.
